I'm hurting, friend killed today on his new Harley
I feel so down. I got a call today, informing me that a good friend of mine, William Wicker, has hit and killed around 2 PM today on his way to take his new Road King to the Harley shop for service. I don't know the details, but do know his wife, Tina, (whom I taught in high school) witnessed the tragedy, because she was following William to bring him home after he dropped the bike off. They have two kids. He was a nurse, one who helped me get through the months after my collision.
It makes me wonder if its really worth the risk we take when we ride, but I'm hooked, I love it. Are we stupid to do it, that's what I'm wondering, but what's is worse is the fact that I realize I'm not going to sell my bike - I'm not going to give up riding. When I hear about other bikers paying the price to ride, I didn't consider my own mortality. Even after my wreck, even after almost dying, even after losing my right leg, even after the scars, the suffering I put my family through, I'm not going to stop - am I nuts?
Please take a moment the utter a prayer for the loved ones who must endure this.

I am very sorry for your loss. I've had a few close calls this year myself and while I thought a lot about them, I just can't give up the ride either. I guess I just tell myself, if it's my time, then it won't matter where I am or what I'm doing... so I might as well do what I love.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend and his family.
Sometimes after watching the news or reading the many posts here about motorcycle accidents, I also wonder why I take a risk by riding - then I take a ride and realize just how much I love the freedom and feeling we get when riding.
My prayers are with his family and you also. That's truly tragic.

Sorry for your loss. May he R.I.P. And may Peace be with his family.I will pray for them.That must have been horrible for them to witness it. Sorry to hear about another brother lost. Its a very dangerous hobby. All we can do is ride safe and hope it's not our turn to go. Peace
