Was not happy with the hydraulic line routing using the 14" bars. Had to put the hydraulic lines above the cross bar (per the above KST video) which then caused interference with the Speedo/Tach housing.
Took a drill and CAREFULLY drilled a hole on each side of the center wire shroud. Measured many many times and finally resorted to using a rubber grommet that just fit around the hydraulic line. Then took the rubber grommet, placed it on the shroud to figure out where to make the hole. Used a silver sharpie to mark it. The sharpie ink comes off if you use something like
, so don't worry about the ink. Then took a utility blade to square off the edge contacting the speedo/tach housing. Finished with a small file to clean up the edges.
Came out much better than expected. Note the right side hole had to be bigger as the line does not come out at a 90deg angle. It's more like 60deg so the hole has to be bigger to accommodate.

Here is a pic of mine with the 12 in. Spearheads, these are around 3 in. higher than the stock bars. I am 5' 8" on a good day
with 30" inseam. Since this picture was made I have adjustment to the handlebar width to match to the stock bar width.
Just installed a CVO seat yesterday and more than likely be making some more adjustments.
You have the same floorboards as I do. Damn expensive but love them for the integrated highway pegs.
Pulled the trigger on 14" KST bars, to swap with the 12" set. Ordered extension cables for the right and left buttons and the left heated grip controller. May not need them but playing it safe. Will post pictures when finished.
well, at least you lasted 10hrs on your 'no mods to the bike' timeframe. lol....
I went back and forth on whether to get the 12" or 14". Wanting to get the bars a little closer, I seemed that the stock bars were about 12", so I went with the 14. They were delivered today and hope to be putting them on this weekend. For the cost, I hope all goes as planned. Ret at KST is very responsive via email. He answered all my stupid little questions. I did buy the bars from Denniskirk for free ship and the 10% discount from list. Always fun putting new parts on! I don't know that I will document the install, but I'll try to post back the result and any particular issues. The extra plane of adjustability is pretty cool though.

Yes it would have been easier. The 12" bars worked fine by running the lines under the handlebar crossbar. This put the angle of the lines in a position that did not interfere with the speedo/tach cluster cover.
Not sure how KST got the 14" bars to work with stock lines. Very happy with the holes drilled in the sides of the cover.
skratch, that's funny. Yeah I swore I wouldn't start drilling holes and other mods but I just can't help myself. Still looks better than pop-riveting aircraft or speed tape in the field, just to keep them flying. That was some ugly work.
