24 hrs to Decide on "08".
I have a 2008 Streetglide on hold for me until tomorrow. I have been torn between the Streetglide and RK. Love the look and versitility and ride of the RK but hate the feeling of sitting on top. The bars make me feel like I'm on a crotch rocket. I more prefer arms bent and out like with beach bars. In addition, I will need to wait until late Sept for the Roadking.
The Streetglide (Dark Blue Pearl) looks beautiful despite the batwings. I do a lot of cold weather riding where they would come in handy. The radio, CD, and tach are also nice. If I can put some tall touring bars that reach back enough, I would be happy.
My original plan was to get the RK and later get a detachable fairing thus having the best of both worlds.
I'm too impatient to wait to (likely) October.
I'm 6' 1" with long reach. Will I comfortable fit intoa SG? I could ride home in one tomorrow.

I have owned both an RK and an Ultra; like you, I did not like the look of the batwing at first. It won't take you long, perhaps the ride home, to fall in love with the SG. The batwing is awesome in windy and cold conditions. You will appreciate the gauge package that come with the batwing bikes; you might want to swap out the ambient temp gauge for something more functional like the oil temp gauge. It's your call; good luck!

Bobros, what did you think about the ride and handling of the two models? If you haven't ridden them yet, I suggest you demo or rent them. It can save you a lot of grief and $$$$ later, should you realize you wanted the other. It sure saved my hide from a big no-no.

I didnt think i'd like having afairingbut now that i do iwouldn't want to be w/out. The other difference is the ride of a rk is probably a little better than the sg w/the lowered shocks. To each their own.
I wouldn't buy anything w/out a demo ride maybe you should try theRoadGlide.handles like a sport bike, has cruise controland the feeling of extra room when you sit on it just my .02

I never rode a SG but sitting in it felt much better than the RK. Tall touring bars would further allow me to sit back.

I HATED the fairing only a few months ago. However, something about the SG just kept calling me. Pretty soon I was trading in my RK Custom for a SG. I did not even get the bike home before I loved it more than my RK Custom. Iam taking a trip to Yellowstone next month (2000 milesround trip) on it and I am not worried about comfort one bit.You will NOT be sorry!!! This is not JMO....this is fact!!!
