Dont leap for the Corbin Close either. Have one, close it is not. It’s about stock in the pocket depth, probably a good two inches rearward of my Harley Reach seat.

I don't know much but is this really a dependable measurement? I'm thinking there's a multitude of different "nose" configurations depending on manufacturer with some extending further up the tank, some short that barely reach the tank...and everything in between. Maybe a better measurement would be from something more stationary like the back of the console on the tank? This is what I used when looking for a new seat cause I'm also one of those tall lanky bastards . But who knows, they may vary by an inch or 2 as well?

I got a surprise this morning after my new seat went awol in shipping, Fed Ex came through and delivered it. I put it on and went for a 50 mile ride, it felt like a board at first but just I think just because it was cold, once warmed up it turned out to be very comfortable and I had no complaints and no hotspots. It's pretty much the same size as the stock RK seat but firmer, I think it might have to break in a bit but I have nothing to gripe about as it is. It has a center channel in the foam to relieve pressure on your "taint" which I immediately noticed or didn't notice because it didn't bother me there. This is the 18" model.
It's well made too. It sits just a touch higher than stock but I think once broken in it'll sit the same. Underneath the seat there are rubber pads that sit on the frame rail for shock and vibration absorption which works well and it fits perfectly.
On the tank tab there is an adjustment to adjust for fit which I
didn't need to do. When I mounted it I put it on top of the fender nuts and used the black knurled nuts they supplied with the seat which gave it about 1/4" more height as you can see in the last picture, I removed those and mounted it the right way on top of the nylon washers and used the stock 7/16" nut to tighten it down. It has a velcro flap to hide the mounting bolts. I really like the seat, ymmv. I think if you like the position of the stock road king seat you'll like this. I have 30 days to try it, time will tell but I don't think it'll be going back for a refund.

It is if I'm wanting to know whether the measurement for that particular seat is actually what the manufacturer shows on their website.

You're right though, comparing different seat brands based on that measurement can be problematic due to the individual designs and shapes they might use. You could measure from a more fixed reference point somewhere on the tank, but then you have to be careful choosing that spot because the dash is different between a RK and Street Glide, for instance.

If you ever want to get really confused, compare the seating area measurements that can be found on Dennis Kirk's website. Sometimes even those numbers don't match for the same basic seat design from the same manufacturer..

Thanks for the review. Looks like they have a winner with that design. I'll be curious to see what the back rest looks like when they have it ready.

I like that color on your Road King!

Since I consider myself a short fellow at 5' 8" with a 30" inseam I can flat foot my RGS with stock seat. Would you mind
sharing your measurements.

I am about the same size, I think I shrank an inch the last couple years and probably 5' 7" now but I still have a 29"-30" inseam and I can flat foot with the regular seat, this one I can flat foot if I have on my RedWings on with 1" soles. I'm thinking once it breaks in it will be exactly the same height as the stock seat.

Here's the Sargent on my '08...although, I wasn't thinking about the seat when I took the pic today. I'm not sure why mine feels/is a bit further back than stock. I'm thinking there's a slight placement difference between '08 and the '09 and up models. I found a workaround for it though. I've got it placed so the plastic bracket for the rear fender bolts fit snugly (very snug) up against the bolts (instead of on). Then, I put a couple of washers over the bolts overlapping the plastic bracket and then bolted it all down. It's tight as a tick and I'm comfortable that it isn't going to budge. Rear flap still covers all the attachment. Just sitting on the bike, I now feel back where I need to be regarding the bars. I'll test it all for comfort, control and to make sure it's all buttoned up.
