1) All three sets were HD's Kahuna heated grips, so we could pull the wires inside the bars. The 2010 is actually a 2011, and it has the 2-pin connector inside the fairing, coming off the back of the cigarette lighter, for power.
2) Yep, thats what I'm saying, on the cross over it doesn't matter. Think about it, you have two wire to use, both are the same colors... how you going to pick? lol On the 2011 I can't honestly remember what colors were on the bike's wires coming over from the right grip, I just plugged it in to the connector.
3) In 2016 the Road Glide Ultras still didn't have that connector coming off the back of the lighter from the factory (I could have/should have just made one, would have been clean and neat)... but the Road Glide, the Road Glide Special, and most of the rest of the touring models do... but not my Road Glide Ultra lol and so I used the "other" harness on that one, that harness plugs into the accessories connector behind the left side cover.
On your bike, a 2009, I think there is a P&A connector under the seat. If it looks like the pic below (a 2011), check connector 2, and see if this harness you want to unplug is plugged in to it. You'll have to trace it to be sure.

Thank you very much Ssitruc. That does it for me. I know it makes sense and good logic, but I have been suckered by good logic before and logic quite often escapes the mother company. eg. the way they wired the left grip before. :-)
Thanks for the picture of the possible location of the power connection. I'll check that out tomorrow and hopefully don't have to remove the tank.
I really appreciate your time and effort to help me out.
Cheers.

Since this discussion is dealing with multiple year bikes, I thought a little background info on these heated grips and wiring might help some people. I have posted some of this before but it can get lost in all the problems and posts.

HD has two types of heated grips I know of for these bikes, 2008 + touring.
What I call the CVO type (the ones with two +V DC wires) and what I call the Limited type (the ones with only one +V DC wire)

CVO type:
In 2008 (maybe earlier, I do not know) the Ultra CVO came with heated grips. The wiring was incorporated into the wiring harness and used a plug (plug 189) with three wires, (O/R, R, Bk.)
The O/R wire gets power from the Accessory Fuse, the R wire gets power from a dedicated Heated Grip fuse in the fuse block, both get power when ignition is on or in accessory mode.
Power is needed to both for the grips to heat.

To fit bikes (like an Ultra, Road King, etc.) with these grips HD released kits that contained a wiring harness that ran in the wiring try under the tank. One of the +V DC wires went to the fuse box to the P&A IGN 2A location which was normally unused from the factory (not the same as the P&A 15A fuse), the other went to the B+ connector under the seat (in Ssitruc's pic above it would be what is labeled #3, P&A [160])
The P&A IGN fuse gets power when the ignition is on, the B+ is always hot.
The grips are not supposed to pull power from the B+ wire (even if the grips are left turned on) unless the other wire is receiving power from the P&A IGN 2A fuse, which is only powered when the ignition switch is in the on position. Occasionally the switching in the left grip fails and allows power to be pulled from the B+ wire with the ignition off, and can cause the battery to drain when parked.
(see section below on wiring for other options.)

Limited type:
In 2010 HD came out with the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, which came with heated grips.
The grips got power from a single +V DC wire (plug 189) which had an O/R wire coming off the P&A 15A fuse which is powered when ignition switch is on or in accessory position, and a Bk wire for ground.

Wiring:
Many of the 2010 thru 2013 touring bikes with fairings included an unused two wire plug (plug 189) used by the Limited described above. For those installing a two wire Limited type grip they could use this plug. It could also be used to move the wire from the B+ plug used with the CVO style harness to a switched circuit.
CVOs during these dates still used the three wire plug (plug 189) with a Heated Grip fuse in the fuse block.

With the introduction of the Rushmores, HD retained the two wire plug (plug 189) but changed the color of the wires from O/R and Bk to V/BE and Bk.
The FLHTKSE (CVO Limited) went to the same design as the Limited with the one +V DC wire grips.

Hope this helps some understand why there is so much confusion and frustration and so many different opinions on how to wire the HD heated grips.
