702, I'm 5'7" ish, 30" inseam, and I *think* I have the tallboy Harley seat on. That was a request from my wife over the factory seat after looking at the width of the rear seat. I / we didn't realize at the time it was the tallboy seat though.

I may be wrong on the seat too, but I'm pretty sure it is.
I am also 5,7 and the stock sg handlebars work just fine for me.

the biggest deal I see with those tall bars is that they raise your hands above the fairing to where they catch all the turbulence coming over the fairing!! here in N.D. the winters are long so we tend to ride as late into the fall as we can and get going early spring as well.
a buddy of mine installed those tall bars on his Electra Glide classic and quickly removed them because his hands would get terribly cold rather quickly!! But I see you are in Texas so that may not be a issue!! and congrats on the new bike!!

That combination of HB's and seat appears to be, IMHO, all wrong for your stature. Only tall lanky long armed guys use Ape Hanger HB's and TallBoy seats, not us vertically challanged riders.

I'm short also, so my bike is lowered both front and rear and use the H-D Reach Bars to bring the grips closser to me. I was using a H-D Reach seat to also lower me some, but found it was to uncomfortable for long rides and have changed to a stock H-D Ultra Limited seat that is way more comfortable and my lady loves it. It has a nice wide soft pearch for her. I modded the seat to shave off some foam, about a 1/2"+, on each side at the thigh area which made reaching the ground better.

See my other post about a stock HB I have avaiiable.

Try a different seat, and do it without your wife on board. Your local HD dealer will have some demo's, just keep in ming that they are all shitty seats. But you'll get the feel for what works for you. I have the same bars, but I'm a little taller than you. With that said, I also know women here in Vegas that ride Street Glides with the same bars, so don't let all the short guys tell you it's the bars, because it's the seat position.

Like others have said, you should be able to roll them back slightly but I honestly feel you'd be more comfortable with shorter bars. I have the 10" Chubby bars installed and absolutely love them. That being said, bars, seats, back rests, pegs and floorboards are very much a personal item and you just have to play around and find what feels best to you. Here's a link in reference to my bars with photos, good luck! https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...r-install.html

I have to agree with you. I rode for 12 years with oem bars and kicked myself in the **** for not changing them out sooner. Love my chubby's!!!

Those bars could be 12" or 14". If I recall, Factory 47's have a pull back measurement closer to factory than the other bars out there. Therefore by slightly loosening the bars, sit on it and play with them a little...you will find the sweet spot for you. As previously mentioned just make sure when you find the sweet spot they clear the tank and full lock. Just a slight adjustment may be all you need. Otherwise, get ready to pull out the checkbook and begin custom fitting the bike to you. Which is ultimately what you want.

Hope this helps.

"Also .. can anyone identify the bars so I know what I'm working with?" Looks to me to be Factory 47 14" Assault Bars about $450 new!

I'm not sure I want to remove them. I've grown to like them, but if they were a little further back, that would be fantastic.

I'm hesitant to make any changes until I get a different seat though. I'm still assuming I've got the Tallboy seat which sits a little further back. I find my self often not sitting all the way back in the seat.

Sincerely .. Thank you guys for your input and wisdom!
