I just want to know if its a huge project and where can I find some reasonably priced bags. I saw some at the stealership but I cant justify $1300 bux that way. Anyone know anyone getting rid of some?

 

buy them on Ebay....they are there by the hundreds.....you can probably find your color and they mount just like your leather bags, assuming you are talking about a touring bike like a road king.....same hardware, same clips....just switch them out.

Just an FYI on my FLHRS I had to adjust the saddle bag mounts, loosen and retighten the saddle bag rail (underneath) and actualy dremel out the rubber mount on the bottom of the bag a bit. I dont know why I had to do these things, Ive never heard of anyone else having to but I did. Just so ya know if yours dont fit perfect. Fell free to PM me if ya run into any porblems.

 

I have both and swap them back and forth as my needs dictate.

 

You must be reading my mind! I have been looking for some nice hard bags on e-bay for a couple months now... There are lots of them but none I have found to be the right color and in good shape at the same time. The dealer here in SD told me 1000.00 plus my good customer 10% discount.... Let me know if you come up with a cheep solution!
The only thing I have come up with is getting with a trike manufacturer and see if I can buy there take offs. But soo far they have not been willing to play nice.

They are a direct swap. I bought hard bags for my Road King Classic and thought I would swap them back and forth. That was 4 years ago. I haven't used the leather bags since.

Watch Ebay long enough and you will find a set. I have an 01 RKC that is two tone, luxury rich red and black w/ red and silver pin stripes. Ifound a set of "new" take offs from a 2002 Road King,same colors, for $600 shipped. They look great on the bike. I doubt I ever do the swap thing either. The leather bags are tucked away in my closet, I doubt they ever see the back of my RK again.

 

I bought FLH hard bagson E-bay a couple of years ago that matched my 2000 fatboy colors (sinister blue and diamond ice) and the pinstripe even matched! I think i got them for about $450.
