Hmmm, black tank w/extra filler hole for Road King?

I was considering bringing in a body part for them to match and see what comes of it...
ive had 3 vivid black Harleys.... its black,,, straight nothing special black... about any black will match.... its black....... stop over thinking it..... i do powder coat,,, black... and it all matches my black bike....... try searching " black paint" these are all vivid black... all chrome was PCed gloss black, all matches..

Vivid black is straight black....any body shop can spray it for you cheap when they do a car the same color...or you can do it yourself.
I think by "tri-color" you or he meant you need a primer, base coat (black) and a clear coat...which is correct. 3 steps. one color.

Hoope that helps.

Plus 1 on ColorRite. I painted my whole bike last winter in my garage with rattle cans

This is actually Starlight Black metallic from ColorRite. They have Vivid Black also. About 2 cans of color and clear each. get them from Amazon. about half price. Easy to paint, cut, buff by hand. After riding all summer, it still shines like new.

Any store that sells PPG should have a chip set for their black. Last time I used some black PPG,the chips showed 6 variations. ,Chip will show something like black, more yellow, more gray, more brown, etc. And I'd bet the solid black will be the one you want to match Harley's 'vivid black'.

I sprayed my inner fairing and bag lids with Eastwood boulevard black with their euro clear and it matched the factory paint. As said above, it's just straight black, nothing special.

Black is not always "black", my 87 Alfa has a brown tint to it, my F150 ( paint code UA) is a straight black, no metal flake, but the toners are not even close to either my Alfa or my 03 EG

I have used the DBU 9850 on my 03 and it is a close enough match that you couldn't tell the difference between the fender I painted and the rest of the bike.

This is "generally" the case with a basic black ... forgetting any of the "shimmering" or metallic" additives ... Doing a blend or touching up an area within a field would be advisable, but a total cover of a piece not laying up against another would be /should be more than acceptable ... Did it many times with much success

I have bought 2 Stage vivid black (base and clear) from PPG, it’s damn close, but in direct sunlight it looks a little muddy to me.

no one else I point it out to see it’s, but I do, and it bugs the hell out of me, LOL

i just learned to live with it.
