Default Brighter bulb for SG brake light?

Has anyone replaced the stock bulb in the red center brake light with a brighter one on a SG? Looking for a little more noticeability without going to a Panacea or the like. Thanks

I added the HD run/brake/turn signal module that makes the turn signals run/brake lights. My buddies tell me the turn signals are very bright as brake lights and running lights. Costs about $50.

I'll be watching this thread to see if someone has a better bulb; followed my buddy's '05 RG with his tour pak on the back and the tail light was very hard to see.

The LED boards ae very, very bright. I had one on my old VTX and it was extremely bright. Yes, they are pricey, but in my view it is a little cost to be seen much better

PS.... If you order through them, add "VTXOA" in the coupon code box and you might get an added 5% off the order. Worth a try anyway

Ridesafer.com has a relplacement halogen bulb that also has a modulator strobe built in. It's a plug and play. Just replace the light bulb. I believe it was about $40. I also bought the headlight modulator with it. I think the increased visibility is worth it.

You can do the same with two resistors and two (One way diodes)

The higher the resistance the dimmer the led, do an 400 for running and a 200 for brake, the diodes keep the current from backing up..
you can use brake and running wires on the same single led feed, the lower resistance will dominate and leds will show brake current when applied..

Did I mention this is a less than 5.00 mod....!

I added kuryakin panacea system. My buddies tell me it's like fireworks going on back there. Extremely bright plus they flash a few times when you hit the brake. If you're looking to get noticed, it's a good way to go.

I replaced all of my stock 1157bulbs with PIAA Xtreme White bulbs. I did a side by side test while i was putting them in. Just replaced one sideand left the regular 1157 in the other side, very noticeable difference. For the brightest lights I think LED's are they wat to go. I was behind a Ambulancea few weeksago, they were very bright with just the running lights on and let me tell you when they put on their brake lights to stop at the light, WOW! they arebright. []

My '07 SG has a newfangled blade-type bulb, not the usual 1157 bayonet mount. I'm not sure what year they started this, but I haven't found a high-output bulb in this configuration yet. Still looking.

Heartdoc, how much brighter is the modulating bulb?

Iclick, they do make one of these with the blade type plug.
