Hello, I have a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 and I lost my key and got a factory replacement from Harley. The replacement key will unlock my steering wheel lock and in the ignition it will turn to ACC but not to ignition. Any thoughts on why and how I can resolve this?

 

Try running a steel brush over the cuts, and or fine emrey cloth over it.

 

Also try a little lubricant in the lock and gently jiggle the key in it, to distribute the lubricant. Hawg's suggestion above is in essence to remove all sharp edges from the key. Can you turn the bars freely, with the steering unlocked? Just a possibility there may be some preload still on the lock, although there shouldn't be.

Once you've fixed that, get yourself a spare key.....

 

If it's a barrel key try pushing it in a little harder might not be seating
