Default Road King Seats

After buying and selling seats for my 01 RK for the last 4-5 years I have learned finding a seat that works is not an easy thing. Most seats will work for the first hour or two but after that it seems the foam bottoms out and it’s like I’m sitting on plywood. I know some has to do with being older because I never remember this being an issue when I was younger.
Now I see how people could spend so much on a seat that works, I’m about there now.
It seems the only choice is to buy something from the dealer or roll the dice on ordering one and hope for the best.
To those who have found the right seat how did you do it?

I did a lot of research and after hearing a lot of good things about Mustang seats got one. The stock Road King seat is awful (mine is a 98) so anything would be an improvement.

You're going to find there are as many answers to your question as you get replies! Mrs B and I took the plunge and bought a Corbin dual touring seat and are as pleased as we could be. The next improvement, which adds even more to our comfort, was adding Ohlins front and rear. See - one thing just leads to another! For example their shocks are good, adding their cartridges is even better....

If you want all day comfort, you need to start with a seat designed for all day comfort. A whole lot of them are designed for show and to merely be tolerable for an hour.

I've got several, and have gone through several more myself. I keep coming back to my old Harley Comfort Stitch.

I happen to like going to swap meets, and have picked up used seats there for a song.

My rider and I both like the Harley Hammock seat which has two types of foam. I was comfortable, but rider need a sheepskin cover, on a Corbin seat. For me the Mustang super tour was too wide at the nose so dug in the thighs when stopped. Most dealers have demo seats you can test. Good luck there are tons of choices.

I have been through a lot of seats and it never ceases to amaze me that the Corbin Dual Tour can be so comfortable, it being so hard. I liken it to a horse saddle which of course are very stiff if you will.

Agreed, doesn't quite seem natural, but Mrs B and I have travelled far and wide with ours. We have to say that adding Ohlins suspension added yet more comfort, as already pointed out! A winning combination.

My friend has a Corbin seat he likes a lot but I can’t understand it, that thing is very hard.

Those seats that look all soft and pillowy may appear to be comfortable, but after a few hours they turn into unsupportive mush.

I got lucky and found a good seat for me on the first try (LePera).
