Default Seat Question

I've got a 2005 Road King Custom, i took the stock seat off, and installed a Mustang solo with backrest, I'm 5' 8'' tall , when i put my feet down it feels like it spreads my hips too much in the thigh area. I'm wondering if the seat just isn't broken in enough and that is the problem. Or, do i need it trimmed down a little in the thigh area to help bring my legs closer together when I've got my feet on the ground? Anyone had this problem, if so, what did you do? thanks

Lots of the shorter ones amongst us have a similar problem, with a wide variety of seats, so you're not alone. It's one of the short-comings (pun intended!) of the style of our bikes. While moving we may feel wonderfully comfortable, but dread when we have to stop again! One solution is indeed to trim the seat, or find an expert to do it for you, alternatively look for an alternative seat that doesn't provide that problem.

I have the same issue with my Wide Glide, shows up mostly when I back the bike into it's garage. A little less seat in the front would cure the issue, but I would not try to do the modification myself!
The people at Mustang Seats are very helpful, contact them and see if they can come up with a modification.

My guess is that you have the 17" Solo. They offer a 15" that is much narrower in the front.
