Dont have a clue have not seen anything like that here in Louisiana. Sounds a little strange to me.

They were all very respectful riders, so I figured they were just being courteous riders in their own way.

it is a way of signaling versus using your hand in a respectful but cautious lazy way. A lot of newer riders aren't comfortable taking their hand off the bars to signal with their hand or they are shifting or whatever so they will use their feet...

I know a lot of times when I am my other bike... when someone is riding next to me on my right... they won't see the hand signal to change lanes to the right but they will see the foot come out to move over.

I had a rice rocket merge into traffic doing the same thing. I was like wtf, SOB too lazy to use his hand or actual signals. oh well, i gave him benefit of the doubt and gave him a wide birth, figured he was a tard or something.

Using a leg to indicate a change in lanes or direction is often used on superbike and/or road racing.
