That's only true if you don't have a detachable backrest mounts installed. This valve has to be moved if you're installing a detachable backrest.

You shouldn't have to take the bag off to get to the valve. At least that's not the case with a SG or EG. Just have to open the lid, and it'll give you enough room to hook up the pump.

Is anyone aware of a flexibleextension that could be attachedsemi-permanently so that the bag would not have to come off?

I have quick detach passenger back rest and luggage rack on my 2007 Street Glide and did not have to move the valve to install the rest/rack. The valve is easily accessablenear the left rear shock. No need to remove the bag just the quick detach rack/rest which hides the valve when installed.
By the way, do not use compressed air, it is way too strong and will blow the shock air seals.Use a hand pump like the HD model sold for that purpose or some other brand that fits (needs a deep pump valvefitting to make it work).
I found 30 pounds pressurefor my 230 pounds plus gear works best. The manual gives you rates but they seem soft to me.

What year did they move it to the left side, jiffy stand side? Cause my 99 Road Glide is on the right side, non jiffy standside, and it's so much easier to get to.
