Thinking of Going with a Baker Compensator, what do I need?
I have a 2009 Road King that has the original Compensator think its on its way out. Hard starting when hot, hard shifting and extra clunky when going into first. Just put a new battery in but still having issues. Bike has 10000 miles on it with stage 1 air cleaner and Rinehart slipons Some say starter clutch but not sure. To install the Baker what do I need to do this? Tools, gaskets does the inner primary have to come off. I see rotor, maybe swap out the chain tensioner with a manual on from baker. Anything else I should look at that I could replace myself? Not sure if bearings are an issue. I just started feeling a slight tap tap vibe in the floorboards when hitting 40 mph under a load. Do not feel is when the clutch is in and rev the motor. I also see people eliminating the Compensator. SE any Good? Just to much confusing info out there. I have a few friends that are mechanically inclined and I am not that bad myself. They want to help me out to do this. Sorry for the drawn out story. Any info would be great.

I have a 10 limited and mine went out at 75 thousand. I put the se compensator in and an extremely happy with mine. I believe yours is the older style like mine so you’ll need the expense kit. Put in a new shifter seal in while your that far. I believe if you don’t lug the motor the se compensator will last a for a lot of miles.

Inout 35,000 trouble free miles on mine until I sold the bike.
BTW, crank run out will kill any compensator.
