Tank leaking from weld!?
#11
JB will eventually leak as will doing a liner, just a matter of how long it takes. Did you do a pressure test with soapy water with the tank off to find the leak ? Only true way to fix it is welding, repaired many an old shovelhead tank that split an inside seem or around the rear mount stud.

You could visibly see it flowing like a river from the seam on the top about 2-3" away from the end of the tank. The JB has fixed it for now, so I'm guessing I hit the right area. Everything is dry since

I fixed a 78 Monza oil pan in a pep boys parking lot with J.B. cold weld and a penny back in 1988 the day before I was supposed to drive 800 miles for my wedding. Never had an issue and sold it in 93. That thing could **** and git with the 262 V8 but the back spark plugs were a bear to change.

I ended up not chancing it and taking the tank off and bringing it to a buddy of mine who is a professional tight welder. Took a few tries before it was done (hest created new holes) but it ended up being leak free. I threw some job weld over it just for peace of mind, then sanded and painted it. So far so good.
