Default Rear shocks

I’ve got a 2014 FLHTK. Came home and found a puddle of oil underneath my bike. It was coming out of the boot on the left rear shock. Is this something anyone else has had on here ?

The factory air shocks do have about 10oz of oil in them, But I have never had any of mine leak oil.

I wouldn't say it is common, but yes, other owners have suffered oil leaks from those air shocks, so don't feel alone! They are readily available secondhand, but there are far superior alternative brands available, which can transform your ride quality. There is an almost endless number of threads about alternative shocks, one of the most popular subjects in here.

I just took mine off my 2014 FLHTK. They are in good working order with 25,000 miles on them. I won’t ever put them back on. If you want them and will pay for the ride they are yours.

Find some take-off 13” shocks from an M8. Ditch the air. I did on my ‘14 and love the difference in ride and handling.

If you are interested in moving away from air shocks, I have a set of 13" HD Hand Adjustable shocks listed for 09 and up touring. Only 1500 miles on them. $250 shipped CONUS.

I had that issue recently and seeing as I just got it a couple weeks before and already spent over my budget, I didn't want to upgrade yet. So I did what we always did on our dirtbike forks when they started leaking. I took the thinnest feeler gauge that I could force between the shock seal and the shock tube and once inserted, positioned the gauge at an angle and was able to push it around the tube and pull out some dirt. The boot was torn allowing dirt to get in so I taped it up. Hasn't leaked since.
