My wife and I did the trek last year from PA, she was on her Heritage and I was on my Road Glide. I will say, the entire trip was such an awesome experience. So many people told us the same thing, that we were crazy to ride that far. Although the rally and the riding in the black hills was awesome, Most of our fondest memories are from the journey to and from.

We only stayed 3 night in Sturgis, then went to Yellowstone for 4 nights. We tent Camped at the Buffalo Chip, and will do that again, sooo much fun.

The riding out that way is nothing short of spectacular!!!! You will Love it.

Safe travels and have a BLAST!!!

Hey Steeler! I remember you going out last year. Glad you had a great time. Question if you don't mind... What did you and the wife end up doing for lodging while in Yellowstone?
The GF and I went the year before and luckily enough got to stay in a Camper in Cody - friends of ours. When we go back we probably won't be as lucky. Kinda wondering what you did since it'd pretty expensive out that way...

We stayed in cabins at Shoshone ranch. It’s has a Cody address, but is just outside of the east Yellowstone entrance. It wasn’t too expensive, and was a fantastic place. The owners were great people, and really took care of us. If you stay there, I would highly recommend doing the breakfast horseback ride. It was awesome.

I don’t know, I haven’t been there since around 2010.

It's the 79th anniversary this year so it'll be a fairly tame, compared to next year the 80th.
For some reason folks like to do those 5 year ones.
It'll be a good time for me to be out of town next year. lolol

My .02: good rain gear is a MUST!, everyone I spoke to was friendly and enjoyable company, stop every 100 mi or so, its a two pronged benefit, fuel gets somewhat scattered west of Iowa, and it just makes your butt last longer IMO, use chap stick! you will thank me later, take ear plugs again two benefits one is for wind noise on the road especially on I-90 in SD the other is when you want to sleep, don't pack too many clothes but pack a variety, there is a high school very near The Chip they have an excellent breakfast and showers, have a burger at the Sugar Shack.
If I remember right the rental campers are near the stage, just FYI. We camped in the EZ Camp and it was also near the stage, like I said earplugs are your friend. If you go once you will go back. I have the itch this year, but family obligations prevent it.
