Oh one more thing, buy an Airhawk before you leave home. Worth their weight in gold on long trips.

I'm heading to Sturgis from Boise this year it will be my second time going---Went last year for 3 nights with some buddy's and had a great time--going this year solo and staying 7 nights missed a lot last time and want to see as much as possible this time. Really looking forward to the trip.
Ride Safe!

Went out a couple of times by myself, from Fort Wayne. 2 1/2 days of hard riding to get there. Second day out I camped, stopping early, but still got to the Chip by mid afternoon on the third day. Day two was rain for 8 hours, Slowed me down a little.
Ride safe, and have fun.

Beware of Buffalo, they don't like to share the road.

State parks require cash or credit.

You must be an iron butt rider then. I had some co workers once with limited vacation time, had one day to get to Sturgis and one day to get back, 1250 miles each way. They ran into some terrible weather along the way, slow downs, etc.

No NP pass required for Mt Rushmore. BUT..... A private company owns/runs the parking deck.
NP pass works for Wind Cave, Badlands & Devils Tower.
Custer is a SD state park.
Crazyhorse is private, has a great native american museum worth the cost of admission.
