What's not to like about spokes? Hmmm let's see...
-inner tubes
-Detailing the spokes or keeping them clean.
-Looseing or even broken spokes...

They add a very good "nostalgic" look to the bike, but a tubeless tire/rim combination is hard to beat for a safer ride.

Anything touring from 07 and down will fit. Difference as said above would be bearings which you want to change anyway if using used wheels.
I really like the Harley wagon wheels with a polished lip.

And you think that thing looks good?????

It does dude just messin around. Dig the white bags!
But I have rode on spokes for years....and will always think they look better.
Riding a motorcycle means you have to do maintenance ... this not cage.
Working on your bike is part of the love.

If you were close to me, I’d swap you even for your spoked rims. I like how maintenance-free my mags are, but I prefer the look of spokes.

I was just going to respond to your first comment with "Not as much as you do but yes" lol

I like wire wheels just not the maintenance it requires to make them look good. These hide grime and brake duat a lot better 😃

I've grown to really like the looks of my spokes, but I'm wondering how much total weight could I save?

I saw were somebody swapped for carbon fiber rims or something, way too damn much price wise, but I wonder what affordable alternatives are there and what weight could be saved. It just might be a major performance improver.

Unless you are extremely anal about saving even ounces, the cost/benefit just isn't there. You and the bike probably come in at near 1200 pounds and shaving 20 to 40 pounds off that will do very little. Same thing for the new light weight battery. If you were going for major prize money in a drag race, every ounce counts, but for a street ride, common sense seems more appropriate.

First, not all chrome spokes rims have tubes, a major misconception. my scoot does not (see scoots profile at bottom of page). Never had a loose or broken spoke either "knock on wood". As for maintenance I detail the crap out of my scoot every winter including rims, after that after 5 tanks of gas or more during "riding season", two beers and also some washing suds later my scoot looks same as it did when I bought it back in 2012.

I have the 09 FLHRC and have been in the process of changing

from the wire spoke to the 28 spoke cast off a later model Ultra Classic. What almost caught me off guard was when I went to order 2 new aftermarket whitewalls from Metzler. What I didn't know was the FLHRC has 16" front and rear and all the other touring models with cast wheels are 17' front and 16" rear. Evidently we can go up to a 20" on the front and not have to worry about the fender fit. Otherwise, all the other components are the same.

QUOTE=L3ft2;18411470]'06 FLHRCI I need to ditch the spoke rims. What year and makes of other Road King rims can I swap out with?

No hits on the search function (maybe I did it wrong?)[/QUOTE]

I’ve wagon wheels on my classic now. There is a definite performance increase. But it comes from wheel rigidity, not the weight difference. The improvement is noticeable.
