I highly doubt you’d find many members in agreement here bud

An awful lot of us have a different experience! However I currently use EBC rotors and pads, plus braided hoses, front and rear. I have also used 13" rotors and 6-pot calipers in the past, however while they do brake better while in peak condition, they are what I will call custom items and do not have good service intervals, at least in my experience. So while that is an option, it is not one I will repeat.

I think you will find it isn't so much undersized rotors or poor quality rotors, as much is it is likely overheated rotors. They are likely dragging either due to the master cylinder not returning all the way leaving a bit of pressure on them most or all of the time. Or the pistons have a build up of brake dust/road grime on them, and not allowing them to retract fully as pressure is released, again causing higher drag than ideal on the rotor. One or both of these two things are the culprit 99% of the time, assuming the pads are installed correctly, and moving freely. If it it the gunk, it is a simple free fix to prevent it in the future, if it is the master you can rebuild it for about $20 assuming the master is in good shape still, if not replace it they are not that expensive.

You claim yourself that you use the front brake 80% of the time. The reason I said change ridding habit, is to use 50/50 front and rear. It's hard to stop a 900# bike with just front or rear.

Oh, and by all means ,If you think that tech is right, then put bigger brakes on.

It's not the size of the brake, it's how you use it.

You can disagree with the OP all you want but you're not going to change his mind. He feels that the bike is too heavy for the size of the rotors and that's that.

It's a simple fix. Either the OP or the bike has to lose weight or he should get a larger rotor. My advice would be, while you're at it, get better calipers and use better pads as well.

Ok all good points. I just wanted to see if anyone else was having the same issue as me. My master Harley tech has been drag racing for years and I respect is input as well as all of yours. he runs a bigger rotor as well as better calipers.

OP, what are you running for pads? That can make a huge difference.

You say, as I recall, that you’ve replaced your rotors twice, but haven’t said why. That info could be very telling.

You’re not elaborating on what’s happening braking wise either.. Again, info that could help the conversation.
