Default Tree fell on bike. Need advice.

Husband has a 2017 Street Glide Special we bought new. We had 70 mph winds last week and a tree fell on our bike it was inside our bike tent. It bent the handle bars down into the tank and the trunk of the tree landed on the seat which is now flat. It looks like the front forks bottomed out. There are numerous scratches and dents. Our Insurance adjuster is coming this afternoon. My question is should we be concerned about suspension issues or frame damage or any other issues from the weight landing on it? I know it hit the bike with a lot of force. Thanks for your help!

In a word, yes. Falling trees hit with tremendous force. There is a very good chance of extensive damage

Thank you for your reply. In all the years we have had Harleys we have never had a claim. I know motorcycles are alot more involved than cars. The adjuster comes at 1 today and my husband is out if town at work so I get to deal with him. I do not want to get screwed over!

We have total replacement so hopefully they do. I just do not think I would ever feel safe on that bike again.

You should bring it to a dealer if the ajuster don't total it.

If you are unsatisfied with the adjuster's evaluation, a Harley specialist should be able to make careful measurements and submit a second opinion from an 'EXPERT" witness. Don't sign any acceptance forms, tell them you are waiting for your husband to concur or disagree.

Sorry for your trouble and welcome to the forum.
Someone would need x-ray vision to predict damage based on those pictures since the bike can not be seen.
A 2017 Street Glide Special is still rather new and holds some value to declare a total loss.
The adjuster in most cases will make the decision on what is best for the company.
If the frame is undamaged then they are just looking at cost of replacement parts.
If it is an inner and outer fairing, fuel tank, seat and rear fender then adjuster might just say fix but again it is a total guess to even know if a bike is under that cover.
Keep in mind that if you had accessories added or some personal items on the bike then it might be worth to mention.

we would need to see more pics . I doubt that it damaged suspension or frame. but once it is uncovered and inspected you will be able to tell a lot more. good luck ask the adjuster all of these same questions and convey your concerns for safety of the bike.

, A dealer will always lean toward totaling a bike with the hope of selling you a new one. Ask me how I know.
