I had the same problem. I solved it when I replaced my seat with a Cycle Pedic Touring Seat by Rush Racing Products. This seat is specifically designed to relieve tailbone pain with its built-in middle channel that eliminates the seat pressure against your tailbone. The seat usually sells for $600 but you can get it for $250 while supplies last.

Just order from Amazon, there in a couple days, I just couldn't buy the "Orange", kind of makes you look like an Orangutan lol. Once the jeans are on, you can't see the padding. Hey, get used to it, we'll be wearing Depends down the road. Ha Ha.

I am 6'5" and 300+ pounds. This really helped me when added to my tall boy seat. No pain on the tailbone and sits me up a bit higher as well which brings me forward onto my thighs more.

Take your seat and gave the tail bone area dished out. Presto. No more tail bone contact

A guy I ride with picked up one of those airhawk seats pads...his was around 100 bucks but he said it's amazing and could ride all day now. I picked up a seat from an ultra classic from a member here over the winter and its my "over an hour seat"...any rode that's going to be longer than an hour the torture rack aka the stock seat comes off and I'm good for all day riding. I had exactly your problem with the tailbone pain

Yes, both front and back seats are slotted...it's the model ST0130 – Cycle Pedic Plus II (Driver & Passenger channel) for Touring '08-'19. I found very little difference in the seat position, except the Cycle Pedic Plus II is a slightly wider seat which I like and there's more padding for your crotch.

They also make a newer seat with an exposed slot for $700 which I don't like. That's why this seat ^^^^ is on sale.

Got 10" bars that helped with upper back pain from being slouched over with stock bars. Butt and legs feel fine for the most part. I do get a little lower back pain but I'm not sure if that is just the tail bone or not. I would like to upgrade suspension in the future but it will be a while. I would love a new seat but not sure what would work best. Looking for a cheap solution to the problem.
I had the same problem. I had a Heritage Softail and couldn't even do an hour without severe tailbone pain. I tried everything to no avail. It turned out what I needed was a wider seat so that my hips were better supported to take the pressure off my spine. I looked all over but no one made one for the Softail that was at least 17" wide.
So I took extreme measures. I sold my Softail and got a 2010 RK. With the new frame, I was able to get a 17" seat from Mustang that fit the bill. They also have wider ones but not in solo. The end result is I am good for a couple of hundred miles now and am enjoying my retirement doing what I love to do. Ride on.

I had a real sore tailbone with my stock seat. I removed the seat, and cut a slot in the plastic bottom of it,about an inch and a half wide, and 3 inches long, right under where my tb was.. Than was enough to soften it up in the right area to relieve the pressure on my butt. With my Mustang seat,I have no tailbone problem.
