Default ticking on my 99 electra glide standard

i just bought this bike used last week from a dealership, and had a question that has probably been asked a million times before. It seems that going down the road, any speed, any rpm the motor seems to be ticking like its a lifter or something.I didnt know if the noise was being amplified because of the fairing or if this is normal or what.It runs great.....just the ticking. The bike has 52K miles on it but i have all of the maintaince records where the guy did everything he was supposed to do to it and when.I hope like hell i didnt just buy a headache. Thanks for any help

The engines in these bikes are far from quiet, and that is amplified by the fairing. If you think it is abnormal, take it back to the dealer for a listen.

I have same issue on my 05 RKC. It is normal. If it is very load I agree with TCSTD & swing by a dealership

Just read something about this in a past Easyriders, believe it was Tech Tips in March 2003, something about rattling noises or something sounds loose in top end. See if this helps at all.

Drives me nuts! I keep looking down to see if something jumped out on my 05 classic. I just turn the radio up. Happy Trails

Yeah..........my 02 with 20000 makes some racket on the lifters and stuff, but I just ride on. Pushrods have never been known to be the quietest engines around. Age affects em alslo.

I was worried about mine when I bought it, cause my 05 Super only had about 1200 miles in it and didnt make as much noise. But I have a wrench at the local shop that I trust and he said its fine.

Ride on...................
