RE: Harley Radio
Holy smoke! $1000 for the radio! I guess I need to proceed with caution.
I thought of an FM modulator, had one in the car. The problem is South Florida radio spectrum is all taken up! There are very few available frequencies, and even those are constantly overun by strong radio signals (particularly by the adjacent freq). [Yeah, way too many people here, but I don't see moving anytime soon :-)] The vibrations on the handle bars precludes mounting a hard drive based MP3 player (it skips and locks-up often). What I want to do is add an AUX-in port inside the fairing, then run the wire with the harness to the side panels, just under the seat. Then I would hook up the player and stow it in a saddlebag guard bag. The quality of the sound is MUCH better when hardwired! The added benefit of doing it this way is that it will not be seen when walking around the bike.
If I can only get my hands on the schematics of the radio...
