Default instruction for mounting chrome passenger footboard covers

Whenmounting the chrome passenger footboard covers, do you have to remove theentire footboardbracketfrom the bike? Do you then just drill two holes in the bottom of each footboard being careful not to go to far and go through the rubber foot pad, and screw the chrome covers on with the two screws? Can you put on the covers on without removing the footboard and just flip them up? Thanks

i left mine on the bike...

hold then in place and mark the hole with a punch to keep you drill bit from "walking"

careful with your drill speed as the pan isn't very thick.

I put a piece of tape about 3/8" up and around from the end of the drill bit so I could watch and not go through the rubber side with the bit. As mentioned, themetal is thin and a good drill bit goes through like hot butter. Leave it on the bike and mark it like FXD said. Piece of cake.

I found it easier to remove the footboard when I installed mine. Only takes a couple minutes and it's easier to drill vertically than horizonaly IMHO. Less likely for the bit to walk even center punching board. Good luck ; they really class up the scoot.

Bit confused..one post says you don't have to drill ? AmI correct" Here is the quote "remove the pad remove the pin place the new one on replace pin and pad and you are done..." Does that mean no drilling??

If you're installing the chrome covers, which it appears you are, you DO need to drill 2 holes in the back/bottom of each passenger floorboard. It's really a piece of cake, and can be easily done without removing the floorboards. Just flip 'em up, mark the places to drill, drill (marking depth with tape, as mentioned previously, is a good idea), and screw away!

If you are replacing the WHOLE footboard then no drilling required, however, your initial post says "covers" which we took as the ones that go over the factory footboards and these need drilling unless the two holes on mine were for hanging pictures.
