That's a hard call...

But then again, if you get the engine all back together, as good as new, only to have a missed piece of debris ruin it again.... then not splitting the cases will seem like a stupid thing to avoid....

I know I would resist splitting the cases... but unless I was virtually positive I had all debris, I most likely would...

And I'm not sure I could sleep if I didn't split them, even if I thought I had all the debris...

They are good bearings, I'll use a KOYO over most the old school brand bearings anymore. Use them extensively on the job.

I just went through this (shattered an inner cam bearing on removal) on my M8, I had all the rollers but the cage was too damaged to determine if all the pieces were there.

I never considered not splitting the cases (probably due to so many years in the aviation industry, seeing the effects of foreign objects).

There was nothing inside the engine...but I never regretted doing the extra work.
