Question 2010 Road Glide 14" Bars

I am putting some 14 inch Carilinis on my Road Glide. Do I need to take off the fairing to get to the Fly by Wire connection so I can pull it through my bars? Also, do I need any extensions. I have read that 14's will fit with Stock cables. Any help is appreciated. From the work I have already done, it looks like i WILL have to take off the fairing.

Thanks,

J.D.

I put 10”s on my 11, if you disconnect the mounting bracket on the clutch cable you will be able to get enough slack to make at least 12” doable. I can’t for sure say 14” will fit but I’ve heard it’s been done.

I just did a set of 14" Kliphangers on my 2012 RG and you definitely have to take off the front fairing. 100% you will have to extend all the wires for the controls but not sure if the brake/clutch lines will stretch that far. I got a cable and wire extension kit from Magnum but for me the brake and clutch lines that came with it were a tad too long. Just take good notes of everything you do especially when doing the wiring. Draw a diagram of where each wire goes in the plug, if you mess those up you are going to have to tear it all down again and redo it. Also DO NOT ADD THE WIRE EXTENSIONS UNTIL AFTER YOU RUN THE STOCK WIRES THROUGH THE HANDLEBARS, TRUST ME! Take good notes on the routes for the cables as well. Overall its not a hard thing to do but it is a pain in the ***, the hardest part is running the wires through the bars, just take your time and you will get it.

^^^ Ditto^^

I did 14" on my 2013 and I needed in behind the fairing and extended the wires, clutch cable and brake line. I was not going to chance trying to get any of that to work while apart. Spend the couple extra bucks and do it the correct way first. why take it apart again to redo it?

Were here for you if you need any help. Take your time and take good notes and pictures. The manual is a plus. There are also a bunch of threads here that pretty much walk you through the process.

FYI, if you go 1.5" dia bars, you will need the clamp. Easy to change out. Only thing that I did to the bars was make the hole in the bottom larger to make pulling the wires through easier. Make it wider but not "too" much taller. If you go too taller, the wires will pinch in the clamp. Width is no problem.
