I have a 2019 Ultra Limited with the WHIM installed and a non-HD Sena 30K. The Sena works great as a wireless headset with Carplay however we are having trouble getting the Sena Mesh to work with another biker that has the exact same Sena 30K. It seems as though the WHIM blocks or is interfering with the Mesh system as when my bike is off, it works. Once it connects to the bike, the Mesh won't connect.

I am specifically looking for feedback from riders with the exact same setup that are seeing the same issue or have gotten the Mesh intercom to work.

 

This is a known issue when using the WHIM. The only way to communicate while having your headset paired to the WHIM is in Bluetooth only mode. I have tested this with the 30K, 20s, and even the Cardo PackTalk Bold which has mesh network capability.

 

Will the mesh connectivity to other riders work with the WHIM and the Harley 30K wireless headset?

 

Today I received confirmation from Sena Tech Support that only the HD-branded Sena 30K will pair with the GTS and allow Mesh comms.

So I ran to the dealer and gave them my money. I’m too far into this WHIM deal to give up now.

My gently used non-HD Sena 30K dual pack is on eBay.

 

Today I rode for hours with my new HD-branded Sena 30K, paired to my 2019 Ultra Limited's recently installed WHIM, and the Mesh worked as expected. One surprise was that the other Mesh participant could hear me voice dialing and texting (just my side of the conversation) which was muted to the Mesh on the non-HD Sena 30k but I haven't gone through all the settings or manual yet so maybe I'm missing something.

 

Thank you for the update. Was the other rider also using a Sena 30K? I am wondering if Mesh communication mode will work between different brands of headsets. For example, if you are using your Sena 30K in Mesh mode would we be able to communicate if I were using my Cardo PackTalk Bold in Mesh mode. My guess is probably not but I want to ask to be sure.

Do you know if MESH network communication only works when people are using headsets from the same manufacturer. For example, could we communicate in MESH mode if you were using your Sena HD branded 30K and I was using the Cardo PackTalk Bold?

I took my bike to the dealership today and had them disable the microphone in the WHIM setup. I am now able to simply plug in my iPhone and CarPlay comes up without requiring a microphone connected to the bike wirelessly or hard wired. I am loving it. My Cardo PackTalk bold has voice activation including 'Hey Siri' so this is perfect. The other big factor is that all of my buddies have the Cardo PackTalk headset. We would all have to switch to the Sena 30K in order for me to use the WHIM and CarPlay. I don't think it is fair to ask all of them to buy new headsets to allow me to be able to use CarPlay. Now I have the best of all worlds.

I read through this entire thread and hope to clarify:
If I install the WHIM, can I get Apple CarPlay to integrate with my PackTalk without the "microphone off" flash?
I have a 2019 Street Glide Special which does not have a microphone jack installed.

Sorry if I missed this solution in a previous post, but I am not totally clear about this.
