Default MM to Carb Conversion

I have had troubles for the last few years with my MM fuel injection and I have finally decided to go for a carb. I plan on going with the HSR42 and DTT ignition. My question is for the manifold. 27613-99 is what is on all parts lists I have found, but will the 27614-99 work? I cannot find if this was an updated part number or what. Also is it worth it to run the Mikuni manifold?

Bike is a 00 EG with 98" BB, head work and S&S 570 cams. Bike made 98/105 I believe.

Thanks.

JP

If you are buying a Mikuni carb, it seems natural to buy the matching manifold! Check the Mikuni website for installation instructions, which should help:

I ended up purchasing the Mikuni manifold but it is not fitting my 06 heads that were used in my engine build. Has anyone else had this issue? Thank you!

I seem to be one of the few who have a trouble-free MM system, maybe I should save the number of a good towing company in my phone.

I wish I could say the same. Now moving to carb it was supposed to be a seamless swap. Unfortunately it has been nothing but issues still. The mikuni manifold does not fit at all. I called Mikuni and they could not help. It should work for twin cams up to 08. I guess I will find a stock manifold to test fit.

If you get frustrated trying to make the Mikuni fit, you could sell it, and go with a Keihin CV40.... just a suggestion mind you... I know a lot of people love the Mikuni, and it's a great carb with infinite adjustability, but I believe the CV40 was underrated.... and I've read they will perform well up to 110ish-115ishHP

Since the CV40 was OEM, it would be easy to find all the parts to mount one, and there is still a lot of support (rebuild parts/tuning info) to support its use on a Harley ....

I have one on an '01 and it runs flawlessly...... I recently bought the bike, and after years of EFI bikes and two in the garage, it was a trip down memory lane rebuilding the carb... but it all came back to me and it was easy to rebuild, easy to dial in, and runs great..!!

Again, just a last resort suggestion....

Good luck with the conversion....

I did the conversion on an 00' years ago. I used the Mik manifold with no issues. So OP, what are your fit issues?

The manifold will not go back far enough to seat over both ports. Original mm throttle body fits perfect.

Is it possible that manifold is Defective?
