Default 2003 Road King Belt guard

I noticed on my 2003 RK that the rubber flap on the drive belt guard is between the tire and belt. It is a tight fit between the tire, I would say rubbing on the tire. Should the rubber flap be between the tire and belt or should the rubber flap be in a different position? Thanks for the help!

Wink

Check your wheel alignment, the slightest adjustment to pull the tyre away should cure things. The fact that skirt is rubber means no great harm will come.

What tires are you running? When I run Metzeler 888 WWW's on my 03 RK the rubber shirt will rub on the WWW and leave a dark mark. With the Dunlop D402's, no problem. I actually checked the difference in width between the two and the 888's are definitely a little wider causing the issue. I notched the rubber just a bit and now all is good.

Good point. Over the years I've had tyres that are narrower than the stated width, and others that are wider. My 160 tyre actually measures 167mm wide. Older bikes such as Evos and the TC88s have pretty snug running clearances for the belt.
