Default Lowers for ‘05 EG Classic - HD or other?

Hi all,

Looking at adding lowers to my ‘05 FLHTCI and wondering about opinions on options.

So far I have seen the lowers available from HD, HogWorkz and eGlide Goodies, and I have also found a number of what appear to be Chinese options on eBay/Amazon (e.g. XFMT, TCMT, etc.).

Obviously I’m looking for possible issues with both fit and finish. My bike is Vivid Black so also concerned with color match as some of the above indicate color to be same.

Anyone have any experiences with any of these or others?

Thank you in advance for any feedback,
John

Advan Black seems to get pretty good reviews. Have you checked them out?

i have bought a couple sets for some friend's bikes. originally, i thought it was worth the $69 dollar gamble for the vented lowers that come vivid black. i have also bought a few sets of the chinese stretched bags and tour packs. the paint is acceptable. the odd time there was a bit of a run or some fish eyes, but you had to go looking for it. the vented lowers are fine. you would be advised to get the actual harley mounting hardware as the stuff it comes with is not very good. on one set, the vents did not operate as smooth as factory, but i am not opening and closing them a lot anyway. my buddy is happy with his and since he was painting his bike anyway, the paint was not an issue. for the $69 they cost me on ebay, they are well worth the money.

yeah, gonna kick myself in the *** here (since i have hd lowers for sale in the classifieds. but not vivid black). i bought a set of the tcmt lowers in vivid black off of amazon for about $70 shipped. are they as nice as the hd ones? no. are they acceptable? sure they are. but, i had to spend close to $30 on hd hardware to get them that way. the biggest differences are the glove box on hd is rubberized and textured. on the tcmt, it is just hard plastic textured. hd comes with a rubber bushing 'spring' to adjust the door. the tcmt don't. mine were basically locked in the closed position. also the p clamp that goes on the bottom of the crash bar is too small from tcmt. it's like it was designed for a 1'' bar, vs 1.25''. but, for something that sits that close to the road and is gonna get beat up with rocks, debris, etc. i'm good with it.

There is a pair for sale in the classifieds on this forum. Check it out. You may be able to negotiate.
