Default 02 Ultra Hiccuping and Coughing

I have a problem with my 02 UltraClassic that occurs after the engine gets hot and I roll off the throttle the bike will hiccup and cough through the air box. It does this very sporatically and no problem at all under power. Yesterday while riding in traffic at 30mph (3rd gear) the bike felt like it was chugging, yet when I applied power it ran like nothing was wrong. I notice the same thing at 50 mph, but not as strong. Most of the hiccuping comes at about 50mph when I roll off the throttle and start to power up. This problem started after I had new lifters installed and the mechanic can't explain the problem. I have had new engine heat temp sensor installed and no effect on hiccuping. I just had the bike to the HD dealer for a dyno run and fine tuning with the SERT. It helped some but still having misfires and coughing through the air box. Before I return to the HD dealership, has anyone out there experienced this same problem?

Since it started happening right after new lifters were installed, one would think there's a connection. Did the mech install adj pushrods? He may want to recheck the adjustment - just a thought.
