Does the isolator system prevent damage to these bolts and these issues? Can they be reused taking of course into consideration cleaning out the threads in the holes threads off the bolts and Loctite on the bolts if they're in good condition. I do have a new set of bolts on order but it's going to take me a week to get them and there was a planned ride this weekend. At worst I'm wondering if it'd be okay to reuse the bolts and then when the new bolts come in next week swap them back out again.

I did just call the local dealer which is an hour away from me and shop foreman told me the bolts "could be reused, only recommended to change.". Also to let people know the bolts are Factory grade 8 bolts with yellow threadlocker. Also a custom bike shop beside the dealership told me they DO sometimes reuse them. Thanks guys.
curious did you reuse your old bolts? what was the outcome?

working on my 2008 this week, ran into same issue of locating the 5 bolts. Did find a set and picked them up but wondered about reusing old one if possible? (in a pinch)

not having any issues with it, just looking at putting new bearings in as wheels are off the bike for new tires.

I DID re-use them. I have since purchased a new set also but was unable to get them at the time. Crazy how expensive they are... but what Harley part isn't?

I ran each bolt's threads on the buffer and tapped out the hub area of all the thread sealer that was in the holes. Once they were cleaned up, I re-applied red thread-locker & installed to torque setting... can't recall for sure but I want to say 70 ft # - I did a slow torque ( 3 different torque settings, going up gradually ). I have 3000 km on them... all's good.

FYI running a tap thu aluminum is risky at best. You should use a thread chaser rather than a tap.

2008 touring? search for threads about jap sportster pulley. better gear ratio.I would be more concerned about the condition of the rubber isolators. The procedure above shows how to check for play in the pulley too much play for to long and bad things start to happen.
