Default What should I expect to pay for a 2019 Road King OTD?

Been debating with myself over diff models. Was in on a 2015 RGS but canceled since I'm in escrow on a home. So I began looking more and more at different touring models, figured the RK would be good for me actually since I listen to music via plugphones anyway.

Anyhow, say I walk into a dealer here in southern Kalifornia. I see the MSRP @ Laidlaw's is $20,084 for a brand new RK with ABS. I've been there already and they told me they'd give me a law enforcement discount as well (how much, that I don't know). With sales tax (~9% here in my great state) how much would one expect to pay OTD if I could get a "good deal"? Whatever bike I purchase, I plan to keep for a looong time. I'm also debating paying cash instead of financing.

If anyone has purchased a new bike recently, any advice would be great.

The used market here seems very overpriced. $15k for a 2015, I figure it's worth it to spend a little more for a new one if that's what I'd have to pay.

Thanks

I would expect to pay MSRP plus prep, transportation, taxes and doc fees.

Anything they discount to you is a plus in the right direction.

If they discount the bike price, great. If they waive the prep and transport fees, even better. I'd also ask for 1st service at no charge.

Cash purchase today is not the better play for a deal. You can actually gain a little play by letting them put a finance deal together for you. They may discount the costs of bike or fees because of the points they make on finance. If so, finance the bike and pay it off in the first 3 months. No penalty for early pay-off.

If you look around for used you will find a 2015 cheaper then 15K. I only wish you couldnt as I have a 14.
The bottom line is you will have to pay as much as 50% more for a new vs a used 2014 to 2016 Road King and keep in mind used prices are also negotiable.

Deals are out there for those who look around and ready to buy but it can take patience for any given area.
Cycletrader.com is a great source for pricing. Here is an example, a 2015 with 6000 miles on it for $11,990 ... 2015 RK with less then 6000 miles

What other people paid has exactly zero bearing on what you will pay. Differences in geography, time of season, negotiating skills all play a factor.

Get the house in order, then revisit this idea.

this one speaks the truth

but $2k under MSRP is reachable here with no ridiculous upsells, just the bike, whatever parts and labor you want and the complementary check to Opehlia at the county clerk's office

Bough a 2017 road king last year in wis. Bike had all HD defiance handgrips and driver and passenger floor boards, rear cyl cooling fan, back rest and SE stage 3 upgrade done at millwaukee. Paid even $18000.00. Bike had 6500 miles on it. Average price I guess but have to put some value on additions. Caution though. NEVER but a DEMO bike!!!

I check cycle trader and craigslist on a daily basis. Problem is with out of state, bike needs to have 7500 on it to bring it in (emissions law crap)

I know I won’t get exact figures, but I’m looking for ballpark numbers so I can see if something is way out of hand etc.

We’re closing escrow in 2 weeks. I’m just doing my research beforehand. If I can get a deal on a used from private seller, I’d pay cash to save on tax.

Calculate the MSRP + fees and taxes, then deduct $3000 - round up to the nearest hundred.
walk into the dealership with that amount in $100 bills and lay it on the sales guys desk in thousand dollar stacks.
