Electra glide made to look like SG???
Ok getting a bit confused. Was all set on buying a Street Glide when I was told by a sales person and then a couple owners that it was cheaper to buy a Electra Glide and strip it and change the seat to make it look like a street glide than to buy the Street Glide?????

I think the front fender is different. I Put a Fatboy fender on my Road King a couple of years ago before the street glide came out. Cost me about 700 i think, to buy the fender and send it to Harley in Milwalkee for paint to match my bike.

you have a good sales person, get the EGC (not the standard -- cost to much to add stuff) take off what you dont want it's alot cheaper to take it off than to add it---you can add a SG rear fender and get the short windshield from eBay for less than $40
I have added a lot of stuff to my SG some out of necessity--more lighting.rear crash bars and other stuff cause I wanted it lowers, ultra tour pak, etc.

I am simplifying here, but changing out the seat and windshield will, from a distance, give an EG Std a pretty similar appearance to the SG.
The most notable and permanent difference would be the silver/polished engine of the EG Std vs. the black/chrome of the SG. While the silver really can't be easily changed, you can add the chrome engine kit to the EG Std for roughtly $1,000.
Other differences...
1) Stereo
2) Silver faced gauges
3) Fender trim
4) Pegs/floorboards
5) Directional lights
6) Tank panel
7) Wheels
8) Mirrors
The black/chrome engine and stereo alone make it worth the difference to me if you want the SG look. Alternately, I agree with at least investigating the EG Classic and removing items you don't want.

Been there analyzed that. I went for SG. Added taller clreaview windshiled and detachable Tour Pak. Lot's of little things SG has: lowered, seat, bag fasteners, swept wing streanliner foot boards (price these babies), front AND rear fenders, tank emblems, etc., etc., etc.Not as simple a deal as some here make it. If you really like clean look, go for SG. If you like the cush, go for EG/UG.
