Youtake even a minor spillin shorts, riding will no longer be an option. It's true that jeans offer less protection than leather, but it's also truethat they offer more protection than bare skin.

 

Many manufacturers offer mesh/armored pants. Firstgear, Joe rocket, Olympia, Tourmaster, Icon, Alpinestars, Revit come to mind.

i've caught several bees/wasps up the sleeve. but hell i figured i deserve that. you gotta wear pants.

I was watching a show yesterday about stunt riders in West Virginia. they were on the side of the road getting ready for a ride and a guy goes by wearing only a thong and afull-face helmet. It was really funny.
Anyway I can feel you,about 12 years ago in Hawaii, my wife me and our kids were in our jeep riding with the top off. when were going through the Dole Plantation a bee flew in my shirt. The damn thing stung me on my back i leaned forward and asked my wife if a bee was on my back she just looked over said no and kept singing with my daughters. I had to stop the jeep get out take off my shirt and ask her again. this time she helped by grabbing the stinger and squeezing the rest of the into me. I have never again asked for her help even if a fly lands on me.
By the way I ride to class pretty often with shorts and sandals on.

 

I suppose all you safety conscious folk in here never ride with out your helmet either... No, I didn't think so.
