I have a keychain remote that is about the same size as the alarm remote for the bike.

Take at look at this system. Motorcycle Garage Door Openers I installed one last year and it works great. Good range and I like a separate button. Only issue was communication with the manufacturer was nonexisitant and shipping took two weeks. It may have been something going on at the time, but the product is very good.

Do you have a GD opener now? Try doing one of these. I love mine. Took like an hour to do.

Harleys Garage door opener is made by skylink. Check this link and you will find the same reciever as Harley for only $22.99. I don't know if it is the A or B model that will work with Harleys transmitter? either way they sell remotes also. This information came from good old fashon reverse engineering (I openened up my HD recever and the brand name for the manufacturer is stamped in the board-went to there web site and there is was)

Rich,
For the set up on the skylink remote do you have to use the transmitter also or can you just use the remote

I'm cheap and just hang my mini craftmans/liftmaster garage door opener from the cables by the left grip, no one seems to notice it
