If the transmitter is keying with the PTT switch and the squelch is working, the receiver/transmitter problems are usually related to the antenna/coax. You need to start with checking the antenna SWR as was suggested. Good used SWR meters are not expensive to purchase and are easy to learn how to use.
Is it possible that the broadcast radio and CB antennae were inadvertently switched at some time? The broadcast radio stations will work great with a CB antenna, but the CB will not work with the radio antenna and the transmitter and possibly the T/R switch will be damaged, and the damage can occur the first time the transmitter is keyed if the SWR is too great.

I ordered 2 non-shorty antennas from ebay, when i receive them we'll ride and test.

It has to be a CB antenna and you really need to check the SWR if you are replacing the antenna.

I see this is from a month ago, but i will kick in some info too. SWR's are the most frequent problem with transmitting and receiving for CB radios, too high and they will burn out your transmit circuit if used for any length of time. After 50 some years using CB's I have found this to be the main thing to check first, and your antenna is the cause of high or low SWR's. Oh, and the higher the antenna the more range you will have, most of the shorty antennas only have a range of about 3/4 of a mile, where the whips have a range of about 1 1/4 miles. Hope this helps someone. Remember, for transmitting and receiving problems always check SWR's FIRST!
