Never been on a poker run that stops at bars, but I agree with the consensus, I would ride in the back and let the others do what they will.

I personally won't drink and ride . . . I had a beer one time and got on my bike soon after and I didn't like not feeling 100% in control. I guess I shoulda waited, but I'm 6'2" and 200lbs, I can handle one beer, but it is amazing how much that little can affect your reflexes and your hand eye coordination, not to mention your ability to concentrate on what the cages are doing around you . . .
I wonder if it might be better to ride up front and keep the problems behind you?

..alot of the poker runs in my area don't startat given time..kinda staggered start, you leave with your group when your ready and set your own pace to next stop..not bad, as you can let drunks and others you would prefer not to ride with leave on their own...without you.
I was kinda curious about Daytona and Sturgis type events..seemed to be an awful lot of ride..drink..ride..drink..ride..drink by thousands of riders..guess that might have something to do with the ridiculous amount offatalities last year.

Yes, there is a lot of drinking and riding at the big rallys like Sturgis. I don't know how some of the ones I saw survived.

I keep a couple of ice chests full of icy cold ones at the campsite and only open them up when the bike is locked down for the day.

I'm surprised that some feel that as long as they don't get $hitfaced, drinking and riding is OK. It is a proven fact that even one drink affects your response, reflexes, and thought processing time. It just isn't worth it. Wait untill you get home man. Then have all you want.
