Default Install - Air defelectors Road Glide

Anyone insatlled the Mid Frame Air Deflectors for the Road Glide. I understand you have to take the seat off as well as one of the saddle bags? How difficult once seat/saddle bag is off. Haven't looked yet -any concerns with removing saddle bag? I'm notorious for taking things apart and then spending hours putting it back together - wife says I have 10 thumbs.

Thanks

Here's a picture of the set of RJ's heat sheilds that are on my '03 Ultra.
I have Rinehart True duals pipes.
Looks like it should have been there all along.
Very easy to do.
check out the RJ's site at:

the RJ's rubbed my rocker box cover on the high side. ask ****** he has seen it first hand. it rubbed for so long that it rubbed into aluminum, scared it pretty bad. i bought the plastic deflectors that harley sells. fit after install is wonderful. doesn't look bad either. plain, almost invisible. the install is kinda rough but not to bad. getting the screws started in the bracket under the seat is the biggest problem. other than that, it's pretty easy. hope this helps.

later,

wanna

Yes you can, you can get standard (plain), Studded (Plain studds) and Jeweled Like the ones I have pictured in above post.

There's an alumium backing that bends to form the shape you want. My don't rub at all. I've seen close up the ones that HD and Kury has, and to me a piece of plastic just doen't look good in that location. I've been told by others that the plastic looks like chrome if you look at it right. But, I don't have to look at mine "right" they look like leather every which way from Tuesday. I have others say to me that they wish they had waited and bought the RJ's instead of the HD or Kury's. But it's your bike and choice.

have fun

That's a bummer that your box cover got damaged.
I formed mine when I put then on, I haven't recieved any damage, with 5 to 6,000 miles on the clock since installation.

good luck with your HD heat sheilds and enjoy the cooler ride.

yeah when i bought the bike the RJ's were on there, and the lady that owned the bike before me wanted them, so the dealership took them off. i didn't notice until to late. but the dealership gave me the hd black plastic ones for free. so i put them on trying to cover up the screwed up box cover. the heat didn't bother me that bad, but i can definitely tell a difference now that i have them on. but my bike is black and the hd's i have are black so you don't really notice them. i'll get a shot or two today of them and post them. and i'll post the box damage from the RJ's. i'm not saying that the RJ's are the complete cause of the problem, because they could have been installed incorrectly, etc, etc. but they were RJ's and their's definitely a gouge/mark/scar/screwed up spot on the high side of my rocker box cover. hope this helps,

Got to hate scratches, especially sratches put on your bike by others.
not like you can buff those out either.

Just wondering if there is any way to use the HD's with the adjustable rider backrest...Parts book says no & the left side lookslike itcovers that whole area where the adjuster is..
