i would have to see how the rider backrest mounts, because i don't understand what would interfere. the bracket is only about 5-6inches long for the air deflectors. maybe a 1/4 inch wide.

yeah when i bought the bike the RJ's were on there, and the lady that owned the bike before me wanted them, so the dealership took them off. i didn't notice until to late. but the dealership gave me the hd black plastic ones for free. so i put them on trying to cover up the screwed up box cover. the heat didn't bother me that bad, but i can definitely tell a difference now that i have them on. but my bike is black and the hd's i have are black so you don't really notice them. i'll get a shot or two today of them and post them. and i'll post the box damage from the RJ's. i'm not saying that the RJ's are the complete cause of the problem, because they could have been installed incorrectly, etc, etc. but they were RJ's and their's definitely a gouge/mark/scar/screwed up spot on the high side of my rocker box cover. hope this helps,

Got to hate scratches, especially sratches put on your bike by others.
not like you can buff those out either.

Thats too bad that who ever installed the RJ originals didn't follow the instructions. checked mine, and i have plenty of roon, close to 3\4" to 1" clearance from the head. hope your scratches are somewhere that are semi-hidden.

i'll take some pictures of it tommorow. if you've got them, the RJ's,check on the rear cylinder, right(high)side of the bike, on the right side corner of the rocker box cover. i'll make sure to show some pics tommorow during the daylight.

uh i only noticed i had them when i put my legs straight out with my ankles resting on the highway pegs. redlights, or just riding around, can't tell they're there. but when i throw my legs out, i can tell a whole lot. put it this way, i won't ever take them off.

Well I attempted to install the deflectors on my '07RG - they are the ones from HD.

There is a bracket that is to be installed once seat off - then deflectors attach tobracket. Reference from instructions to attach screws to holes in frame. No holes in frame and no way that I could see to attach bracket.

Mr. 10 thumbs failed.

If anyone has installed the HD deflectors on a RG please tell me how. HD's instructions very unclear at least for the RG.

Thanks

there's holes there. there should be wiring clamps plugging the holes. you have to remove the clamps from the holes, and used the supplied clamps from hd.

So...does the bracket attach closer to the gas tank or towards the rear of the seat. Does it attach to the frame(tubular part) or somewhere in the well?

Thanks for the help

it attaches right under the seat towards the front of the seat. the "well," i guess is where you're talking about.

installed RJ's on mine last week. studs look good against the blk/chrome of bike. shields work well, plenty of clearance-can slide my hand between shield and cyl head rs, cvrs latch for adj seatback on left BUT easy to reach under and hit release. no downside hi quality -I LUV EM!!!!!!!! ya get what ya pay for.

wondering bout those HD deflectors for the fairing that says you can adjust air flow in towards you-true???make it any cooler????its hot here!!
