RE: Speedo / Tach Combo question
It is pretty easy to install. One problem that I found on my 06 RK was the wiring connector on the new Combo is 180 degrees off of the original. I had to loosen the clamps holding the wiring cable and pull a bit more to get the connector to plug in. No big deal but it was a tight fit. I like mine
Sure it cost a few bucks but what doesn't?

RE: Speedo / Tach Combo question
I have the harley combo one without the color matched lighting - ...$50 more to get "color matched lighting"? I don't think so. But then maybe if my road king weren't black...
I wanted the tach out of curiosity what I was actually running at and to get the best performance out of the bike by figuring out shift points for best acceleration.
Peronally I'm wishing I had a speedo and tach mounted on the bars right on top of the fork instead, because I don't like how much I have to take my eyes off my path of travel to see the guages. A tach out front would also give me the ability to have shift point lights setup.
Might look into this this winter; would be nice to have a tank without a big console cluttering it up too.

RE: Speedo / Tach Combo question
There's an intangible here.
I have a PCIII installed since I bought the bike two years ago. I've played with the maps on my PC, and pretty much now understand what makes my bike tick.
I used to get the occassional "pop / backfire" during shifting (up or down). The tac comes in handy, because it allows me to see EXACTLY what rpm and throttle position this is taking place at, and I simply add / remove fuel in that rpm / throttlerange. After a few rides, and a few minor tweaks in the PCIII software, by 05 RK runs as smooth as silk.
