Can't Remove Saddlebag Key After Locking
I bought a set of one touch bags recently that had no locks. So I ordered two from HD to match the ones of my bike. After installing them I had a
problem removing the key after locking the bags. The locks worked fine when not installed so I took them out and asked a local HD technician
for help. It turns out that the so-called jam nuts supplied with the lock weren't jamming properly. So the nut tightened the locking cam hard against the lock's barrel. It's not supposed to do that. It's supposed to be just slightly touching the barrel but locked in place. I went to ACE and bought two new jam nuts. I reinstalled the locks. Now the keys release easily and the jam nut is securely locked in place. So if you ever replace your locks make sure the nuts jam tight without forcing the cam against the lock.
