Should I use
Hi to all and hope every one had a great 4th. Have a question that I would like to ask, Have a 07 RKC and when I bought the bike got a life time service agreement with it. all in all a great deal after it has paid for it self. Now with the service agreement comes oil changes every 2500 miles whick is great however it is dino verse Syn. Have to pay an extra 35 bones for the Syn. I am thinking that since the oil is getting changes every 2500 it should be alright verse having to pay the extra 35 bucks for the Syn. Any thoughts on this. At this point have 3,500 miles on the bike.

YOU WILL BE FINE WITH THECONVENTIONAL OIL!!!! With that said I run nothing but synthetic oil in EVERY engine I own.
Most oil related engine problems comes fromLACK of oil, NOT the oil failing. The benefits far outweigh the negativeswhen usingsynthetics....A little more hp and gas mileage, instant lubrication at startup where 80% of engine wear occurs, instant lubrication extreme cold weather ( mobil one 10-30 will flow at -45 BELOW ZERO) the v-twin 20-50 is almost as good but dont know specifics.

35 bucks DIFFERENCE?!? Ask 'em if they're on crack! I mean, yeah - synth costs more than dino - but NOT 5-6 bucks a QUART different. They're just trying to make more profit - hugely. Got nothing against profit, but I DO against gouging. And with 2500 mile changes, NO oil is gonna be stressed! I'd offer to let 'em change it every 5k miles with synthetic at NO difference (git it in writing if they agree to it), they'll save a LOT in the long run w/labor and such.

If you change every 2,500 Dino will be fine. BUT, if you want better lubrication the extra bucks for synthetic is well spent. The greatest threat to engine longevity is heat. Synthetic oils handle heat far better than Dino hands down. Also, change intervals for Syn are at about 4,000 to 5,000 miles. Yes, Syn oils are more expensive, but when you stop to consider that this is the single most imporant substance you will put in your hot running V-twin, the cost is pretty modest.

Several options for you. One would be to carry in your own oil and stand there and watch them put it in. I trust no one when it comes to working on my bike. You can look in your phone book for a Amsoil Dealer and buy a gallon jug of 20/50 Motorcycle oil for $35.25 is what my price sheet says. I buy the Amsoil prefered customer membership and it costs me $26.50 for the gallon. Or you can go to Pep Boys and pick up 4 qts of Royal Purple 25/50 for $6.99 qt and last but not least go to WalMart and get a gallon jug of Mobile 1 15/50 for under $20.00 If I rember the post about it right. Or you can come home and drain out the Dino and put it one of the above oils. Red Line oil is another top notch oil to use but It's harder to find, at least here it is. HTH

Changing every 2500 miles- stick with the dino oil. If you're really worried take an oil sample after running the dino for 2500 miles and send it out for analysis. (Usually only costs about $20.)
I'll bet you a 6-pack the oil comes back still within grade and with normal levels of wear metals.
Don't know how long you plan to keep this bike or how many miles you'll put on it, but if 120,000 miles is an acceptable service life for your engine stick with the dino oil changed at 2500 miles. If you absolutely must get 125,000 miles out of it, switch to synthetic.
