That was a common thing back when the rear exhaust exited that route. Will probably leave a nice mark on the primary.
Usually all it took was loosening everything, positioning it correctly, and re-tighten.
If the model has it, there is an “L” shaped support clip under the chrome heat shield for the rear cylinder header pipe. Might be worth looking at. Mine (02 EGS) snapped at the factory bend where the clip bolts to a frame tab in front of the starter. PITA.
Mine did that, I think going over all the potholes in Ohio, loosened everything and kept falling down. Adjust it and keep an eye on it. Primary will have a spot on it,, but really can't tell.
