Stealer 1K service....Why?
Stealer 1K service cost $314.00. Why!?!?!? They washed the bike with what looks like a dirty oil rag. Greased the steering head bearing and got grease everywhere. I changed over to red line shock proof in the tranny today. The tranny drain plug was barley hand tight and the O ring was damaged to boot. I am at a loss as to what I paid $314.00 for.
The best thing I have ever done is find this forum. I have the fix my hog DVD and a service manual. I will never ever let a stealer touch my bike again.
I will help but we must get the word out to as many people as possible that doing your own maintanence is the only way to go. Screw the stealer and their worthless mechanics. Sorry, rant over just pissed I wasted $314.00.

That sounds pretty excessive cost wise... IAs I said in an earlier post, I just had my 1000 mile service done on my 07 Ultra and even going with SYN3 in all 3 holes instead of regular oil it still only cost me $220.
I am going to have to look into this steering head grease issue. I get a weave from the front end of my bike around 60mph that is still unresolved.
One problem with the dealer service that I can see... all the service reciept lists is "1,000 Mile Service". I think that the dealer should have to itemize and sign off on each individual task performed so that you and the dealer can be certain that the service was performed thoroughly and correctly. This is done whenever I bring my truck in for service... should be so for the bike.

Yes sounds steep but shame on you for accepting the bike in the share it was in. Who is the worthless stealer?Fight and get them unfargelled or out of bussiness, you would be suprised what a call to MoCo HQ or BBB will accomplish. These fools stay in bussiness screwing things up cause folks forgot how to fight for whats right. I won't let the dealer touch the bike for any basic service. Your right get a manual and FIX MY HOG DVD and your G.T.G. Sorry you go done like that but consider it a lesson that cost $314

I noticed my dealers prices for service went up. looked more like what aj said. Dont think its that bad if your schedule is as busi as mine ,but I still diy for satisfaction. Also theres that paranoia that it might compromize you warrenty. well my dealer told me "they wont ask and I shouldn't tell" ive been thinkin to that unless you totally screw up or totally neglect maintnence how could it really affect warrenty?

not trying to be the bad guy here but...not all stealers are created equal. just like evryone that rides a bike. my local shop is very competent and i have been very pleased. not to mention the other2 dealers within driving distance (less than an hour) that all have very good reputations. i am considering doing some of my own stuff now that the wife has added to the cause and got her own RKC but that is just a $ thing. you never know when you may need a good dealer to help you out of a pickle. i'm sure thereare some bad ones as well but i don't see a need to ban all dealers out there just yet. just my .02.
the dealers that i am refering to are in Winston Salem, Greensboro and Statesville. need to give props when props are due.

Dealerships make a ton of money off service, probably more than the initial profit on the bike. Am I wrong or can you not do your own service and not void the warranty? Didn't the govt pass a law about forcing you to use the dealer and their oil & stuff ? Or am I having a senior moment?
