Time for my 1k service. Call the dealer and I was given an appointment 2 weeks in the future? Had 850 miles in 2 weeks and I am supposed to wait 2 more for the 1k? Damn. No way? I gotta ride I gotta go on. So I headed down and bought all the fluids , a filter and a shop manual and am gonna do the oil, tranny, and primary juices myself. I just don't dare to go much over the 1k mark without new juices and there is no way I can park the beast for 2 weeks. I will however keep the appointment and let the dealer check all the stuff he wants to check. I want that warranty!

ORIGINAL: electra trike

When I had my E-Glide 1k service done I stood there and watched the mechanic, he basicly took the bike apart looking for loose stuff. The bags came off the outer fairing ,seat, lubed and adjusted everthing. I didn't want to hear the dealers crap that I didn't bring it in for the 1k service if there was a problem latter on.
I suppose thats why I took it in. I wanted it documented that they did the 1K service in case of any problems later. I am not sure what good it did to have it documneted if they did not do it everything they were supposed to. I am more than confident that I can do all required service and do it right.

If you document all that is done for the 1000 mile service, you'll be fine..
I've done every service on Streetglide since new.. now has 6600mi...
Oh,... the dealer here wanted 450.00 for 1k service...

I wish I got that kinda scratch for doing service on cars and trucks at 1000k...

If you want to know if they actually worked on your bike do what I do don't have them wash it you'll see fingerprints on all the covers ,cables etc......plus I talk to the mechanic who takes it on a test drive each time. I do my own maintenance but it never hurts to have a 29 yr veteran mechanic look at it and drive it.......

I suppose I am lucky. We have a none dealer that does Harley's only. He has been doing this for over 20 years. Never a complaint from anyone. He checks everything when it is brought in changes the fluids, crankcase and tranny for $98 including taxs. Rick really enjoys his work. Oh he restores and builds chopper/customs. I did let my local hd stealer take care of my 1,000 mile check up to keep my warranty.
