Default Solo Seat With Tour Pack Backrest?

So I ride 98% of the time solo, so I bought a Saddlemen Dominator Gel Solo seat and Backrest for around town and maybe trips

But I'll be doing a 5 day trip to DC this Memorial Day weekend and wondered how comfortable a Tour Pack Backrest on a Solo seat setup is or would be?

Would be good to have more convenient storage, (and the wife might like it for her 2-3 rides per year in 2-up mode) but if it is not comfortable, then I could just use my luggage strapped to the Sissy Bar.

Any experiences.... looks like below

With the HD solo tour pack mount you will not be able to use the tour pack as a back rest. Doesn’t come forward enough. Not sure what brand mount that pic has. Guessing an aftermarket setup or something the person customized to move pack further forward.

wrong. I've done it on 3 of my bikes, and my wife's bike. we both have a solo seat, and the tourpack mount. only use the tourpack a couple of times per year, but we are able to use the backrest on it. I don't have pics of my 2010 with it, but here's my roadking and my cvo, using only hd parts, no aftermarket:.

I use a Mustang with the Mustang backrest. Stock Solo tour pak rack and backrest.

The bike in the first picture looks like they're using a police TP not the larger HD TP..

I have a Rushmore Limited with the solo tp rack. In solo position the tp needs about a 1/2 riser to open the saddlebags because the speaker pods get in the way. I made my own risers and with that, I adjusted the tp 1" more forward. It works great for me, but I have long arms. Short of that, it would be a long stretch to the bars.

It really looks good. Does this set up change the way the bike handle ?

If there's no improvment, I'll keep my passenger seat to load a few more luggages ...

This is good stuff as it's something I would consider for longer solo trips. Is this just the quick release mount in the forward position? I would think the bike would handle better since the tour pack is now within or closer to the "riding triangle". Would love to hear others experience with handling.

hd sells two different mounts. the two up mount which leaves the tourpack way back there so you can ride a passenger, or the solo set up which allows the tourpack to be forward so the rider can use it as a backrest.

as far as handling goes, there is a difference. I borrowed a bud's two up set up one trip before I had mine and I could definitely feel the effects of the extra weight and where it was positioned. with the solo mount, I don't notice the extra weight/differing center of gravity as much.
