wrong. I've done it on 3 of my bikes, and my wife's bike. we both have a solo seat, and the tourpack mount. only use the tourpack a couple of times per year, but we are able to use the backrest on it. I don't have pics of my 2010 with it, but here's my roadking and my cvo, using only hd parts, no aftermarket:.

I don't know what's "wrong", but... using all HD stuff, the solo bracket - tourpak - signature series solo seat with backrest, I had to use the seat’s "rider Backrest" because the King Tourpak still sat back that far (far enough the rider's backrest could still be mounted!), even with the tourpak mounted and pushed forward the 1" of adjustment that the rack has built in. So, I got a HD Chopped Tourpak, and with it slid all the way forward I'd have to let go of the bars to use it as a back rest. Now this is on a 2016 and I'm 6' and a bit thin at 190... regular arms lol so I made the rail/bracket mentioned a few posts up, now I can slide it 2 to 2-1/2" more forward. I also took the stock Chopped Toupak's backrest pad and added padding in the top section. Then cut a slight curve in it (so not much thicker afterwards, just cupped) and the lower flap replaced it with one with about 2" of padding added to it, for lower back support. Now when its on I can lean back into it, or straighten up and its not touching me... Also the rail/bracket I made lifts the tourpak a 1/2" so I don't have to watch my saddlebag latch handles as I am opening the saddlebags, originally the latch handle could hit the underside of the tourpak. Also because the tourpak sits a little higher, I was able to add the locks for the quick-disconnect on the solo tourpak bracket (had to modify one of the keys though)... anyways this is the only pic I have of it and the modified key..

Well, after much experimentation, I still have not finished this..... this setup is very dependent on the solo seat that you have/buy....

I found this out because I use the Saddlemen Dominator solo gel seat for long trips,,, and it is thick in the back, so when I made my aluminum plates, 1/2 x 2.0" as mentioned above... and slid the pack forward....the tour pack hit the back of my solo seat before I could get it where i wanted it.

So, now I have to raise up the TP some,,, Like at least 2.0" higher....... but.... exactly how much higher?? .. I dont know, but I will figure out this weekend... but with that said, it just might look too funky for me to finish it, i will know more after I mock it up

I have been mulling this setup over in my mind off and on for the past several weeks, and after doing some mocking up with a Givi V47 case I have mounted on my solo tour pak rack, along with the police seat, I decided that there would just be too much forward offset needed to get the case in a position where it provide good back support while using the police seat.

So now I'm looking at whether or not I want to go with a different seat, something like the C&C wide solo, as this sets the riding position down and back from where the police seat is, and likely much closer to the case mounted on the rack in its current position. The C&C solo seat appears to be a good fit for using the chopped pack as a backrest, at least from the pictures others have posted here.

Have you considered going to a different solo seat?

No, I have not, I use the Tour Pack and Saddlemen seat for touring.... so No I dont want to consider another seat... and BTW I have 2 Solo seats, 1=Mustang Wide Solo with backrest for around town and the 1= Saddlemen solo with backrest for long distance rides....

I dont use the King TP for local rides, only long rides..... so its not a huge priority for me now... i might pick up a chopped TP for around town convenience

Here’s a chopped tourpak on a solo bracket, modified as mentioned earlier in this thread, so the toupak sits 2” forward of where a “stock” solo mount would set it. The seat is the HD solo seat. Also the back rest/pad on the tourpak has 2” inches of additional padding added to it, both the upper pad and the lower flap. Then on the upper part of the back rest pad I took a electric fillet knife and cut a nice little curve in it going across, so it fits my back better. The pad feels much better on my back, and the lower flap being thicker actually gives good lower back support. Sooooo, IF you need or want to slide the tourpak forward of where a “stock” setup would set the tourpak then you have to be careful of the profile of the rear of the seat you use, because the tourpak actually sits over the seat. With my setup, I have about a 1/2” clearance between the bottom of the tourpak where it sits over the seat.

Thanks for this SSITRUC..,... I will probably get a chopped pack and then hook it up with the solo seat which it will work better with the thinner Mustang seat... and I can use it more often.... and i dont mid making a setup that I can use more often than only on trips. I can make anything I want since I have access to a machine shop, milling machines, lathes, saws and unlimited metals aluminum etc... but with that said.... I want it to look good too.

your comment about the thicker pad makes sense too.... with my Saddlemen seat measurement was @ 5 + inches too far back, so I will eventually get a setup but Im in no rush....I still need to install my CB and module, and new amp and speakers so the tour pack solo seat mod will be a winter project

That looks like the solo seat that comes on the new Electra Glide Standard. I think something like the Brawler actually sits you further back, and doesn't have as much bulk at the back to interfere with the TP base when slid forward.

The C&C wide solo seat claims to be 18" long from the nose to the back edge where it hits the top of your butt. You can compare that to the solo seat you have on the bike now.
C&C can go back from that 18" an additional 2" if the seat is meant to retain the backrest slot, and 3" if you remove the backrest slot. So you could, in theory, have a seat 21" back and that seems like it would be plenty to work with the stock solo TP setup without having to modify brackets or pads.

But then I don't have all the pieces on hand to verify that so that could be wrong.

LoL, I don’t have the arms I did what I did because going all “stock” if I leaned back enough to use the tourpak as a back rest I’d just have the last 2 joints of my fingers on the grips... at 6’ I’m not short, but I had to do some adjusting to make it the way I wanted. Btw, the padding in the back-rest really didn’t change the reach issue, because I shaved the curve into the new padding, so it just made it contoured and softer, and the “flap” or lower section on a chopped backrest originally was only like maybe a 1/2” thick. Adding that 2” of padding there made a huge difference in comfort because of the lower back support.
So, if I was doing this I’d get my parts together and see how it all fits and feels... then adjust if and where needed.
